What Does Living In "The Now" Mean To You?
What Does Living In "The Now" Mean To You?
Living in "The Now" may mean different things to different people, but for me, I originally thought it meant to be present in the moment and forget about the past and future. I didn't realize that what I had originally thought was just the tip of the iceberg and that it goes much deeper than that. I used to live my life basing it on past experiences or looking forward to a day in the future, but never took the time to appreciate the present. The reason was probably because I didn't know better at the time, was unconscious of the present moment, maybe it was my ego, or all of the above to be quite honest. I was always too busy thinking and allowing my mind to use me when it should have been the other way around.
I thought I had done all of my soul searching years ago when I first learned of the Law Of Attraction, how it works and how life works. I started being grateful for what I had, loving myself, and forgiving others for the pain, anger and resentment I held inside. I also forgave "yours truly" for the wrongs I had done to other people as well over the years. I stopped blaming the people I was in relationships with for why I never felt happy. Many people who knew me at the time would have never thought I was discontented because my sadness was on the inside. On the outside, I was a popular, outgoing, fun-loving person with a lot of energy that seemed to be the happiest person in the world.
With a lot of work to do still ahead of me, I learned that all of the soul searching in the world wouldn't change things long term if I didn't actually deal with the emotions I had buried deep inside. Then again, who wants to go back to a place inside filled with pain and go through the motions of how they felt growing up and revisit those feelings all over again? Most people would say, "Not Me". I was willing to do whatever it took to feel better and improve myself so I ended up getting a Counselor of my own who showed me through deep meditation how to go back to that painful time in my life, feel those emotions again but without judgment or blame this time and release the negative energy so that I could receive positive energy and move forward without repeating the same destructive patterns. I needed to do this and accept what had happened to me when I was younger because it was something I needed to experience and learn from to become the person I am today.
I finally saw the day when I could look back and see how I single-handedly manifested a whole new wonderful life for myself that included good health, gratitude, love, self respect, a successful business of my own, a wonderful husband, an amazing family, and incredible friends! Without that inner work being done, I probably would have been the same unhappy soul I was so many years ago. I can only thank myself for the person I am today, because of the hard work I was willing to do to make positive long term accomplishments in my life.
Why did she spill her guts in this article you wonder? Yes, there's a method to my madness! I have such a passion to help people and if I can inspire even one person by telling my story, then by all means I'm gonna do it! There are so many unhappy people out there that have even more pain inside themselves than I had, but don't know how to start making the positive changes in their lives so that they can move forward to "The Now" and live in the present. I can be that guide for you if your willing to challenge yourself and do the hard work that's involved with self improvement.
