What Does Stuck In Transit Mean?
When you're shipping with courier companies, there are always chances for things to go wrong
. Although your St. Louis courier service is certainly going to take every step possible to make sure that nothing goes wrong on your delivery, if it does, there will usually be a notification of the problem which will appear in whatever method you use to check your status. For example, if an order has become stuck somewhere on the road and you go to check your status online, you may see an update which labels the shipment as "stuck in transit".
When a shipment is "stuck in transit" it basically means that it is no longer progressing towards its destination. This isn't an especially specific status update, as it could very realistically mean one of several things. However, most courier companies simply use "stuck in transit" rather than having a specific update status for every conceivable thing which could cause a shipment to become stuck, because there are simply too many variables involved to predict every possible way to know that a shipment might get slowed down.
When your package is stuck in transit, the courier company should very quickly update your status. This can be why it is useful to check the status of your shipment periodically in between the point when you initially send it off and when you receive your proof of delivery notification. That way you will have some notification if something has happened to impede your shipment's progress.
The scenarios that could potentially stop your shipment moving are pretty varied. Common ones are things like flat tires and vehicle breakdowns. Traffic accidents are also very common causes of packages becoming stuck, especially those which may be slightly more serious. There are lots of other things which can greatly delay shipping though, such as a severe snowstorm, or documentation problems which could cause an order to be stopped at an international border.
If for some reason you feel that after you have discovered that your shipment is stalled that you need more information, your only real recourse is to contact your courier company directly. You need to be aware though that this isn't likely to yield much more information, and even if they can tell you exactly what the cause of the delay is, it's very likely there isn't going to be anything that they, or you, can do about it.
