ATV batteries are essential to the proper functioning of your ATV
. One cannot run their all terrain vehicle without them. It simply can't be done. Batteries, although not the most important part of the machine, can be relatively expensive. Those who do not maintain and take proper care of their batteries will end up spending a great deal of time and money in replacement parts and labor. Everyone should know that their batteries for their ATVs absolutely need to have maintenance performed on them and on a regular basis too.
The general guideline for battery maintenance on an ATV would be to get it done at least two if not three times every year. Since maintenance for batteries is only an hour long job or so, it can definitely be done as often as two to three times per year. There really is no good excuse for doing it less frequently than that other than someone who simply likes to spend money on replacement batteries.
So what needs to be done for proper maintenance? There needs to be some general cleaning. Those that do not clean the connections will end up with poor connections which could cause the ATV in question to cut out or end up not starting at all. Having to jiggle and readjust ATV connections usually means there is too much build up blocking the potential for a proper connection. Cleaning the build up off regularly will help to prevent connection issues.
Charging the batter of an ATV should be done very carefully. It is tempting to throw a charger on it and leave it charging all night or even for days at a time. Don't do that. That is very bad for the battery itself. While it is possible to undercharge batteries so they die quickly, it is also possible to over-charge batteries so they are completely useless forever. Over-charging the battery or leaving the charger connected and turned on for extended periods of time can fry the battery and end up leaving the ATV owner needing to replace it altogether. Only charge the battery for the recommended period of time in order to prolong the life of the battery.
Something else that's good to know is that not all batteries are priced the same. It is possible to get discount motorcycle batteries, discount name brand batteries and more by shopping online. Yuasa batteries are a great name brand to invest in and might be a good idea to invest in if a new battery is needed. First time ATV owners often learn their lessen the hard way about their batteries but those that perform regular maintenance will most likely end up using their batteries for a long period of time.
