With the Election Day coming closer, more and more residents of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines have begun to look back at the nine year regime of the Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves and the ULP government and think were we happy in their regime? I do not considered myself to be away from that group either. As a responsible citizen of this country, I think it is my duty towards my country to make informed decisions and not give in to the impulses (although, had I gave in to my impulses, I would rather be confident about voting against ULP long back.). So, in order to make an informed and sound headed decision let us at first look at the high as well as the low points that the current government has scored.

The housing project for the no-income and low income groups is also a commendable job on part of the government. However, there have been a number of projects in which the government has been a complete failure. These projects include NCB, National Properties, Food City, GESCOand many more. Apart from that the government has failed to sustain the fiscal health of the country. This failure is quite evident in the dilapidated revenues, extravagant spending and a growing deficit. The government has failed to effectively as well as efficiently manage the ever increasing national debt. It has also failed to maintain growth in the key economic sectors like agriculture and tourism. The country was once the number one in the banana production in Caribbean. But now the banana production has gone down significantly. The government has been a complete failure in significantly increase the production of any other crop that can bring in more foreign revenues.

If there is the production of any crop that has grown significantly in the ULP regime then, it is marijuana. Now the country has become one of the leading producers of marijuana in the Caribbean. This has lead to a high rate of crime in the country that includes murder, rape, sexual assault and much more. There has also been a number of political murders in which one can easily find the ULP in a tight spot. So, it is time that we should take the necessary action against the ULP government on the Election Day.
