What If Link Saved Princess Zelda After Obtaining The Master Sword?
From the Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past, Game Podunk presents another "What IF" where we envision different outcomes to the question we ask
. Chances are that these scenarios may seem far-fetched but in a video game world, anything is possible! So sit back and enjoy, but do take caution as there may be spoilers.
What IF Link Saved Princess Zelda after Obtaining the Master Sword in Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past? THEN...
After obtaining the Master Sword from the Lost Woods, Link receives a telepathic message from Zelda that she is under attack by some guards at the Sanctuary. Many the gamer soon rushed off to the Sanctuary and, no matter how quickly you get there, it always seemed like you were only moments too late. The priest explains that the Princess has been kidnapped and departs in a one of the most memorable deaths of the game. However, what if Link had already obtained the Pegasus Shoes and made it in time? We can only assume that the guards were no more dangerous than the droves that Link had already dispatched.
Would it Have Made a Difference?
Well, yes and no. As you will have already discovered through the history of Zelda, Ganon is a resourceful pig-man. But, remember, if Agniham is the person responsible for allowing Ganondorf to seize control of the World. Without his possession of Zelda, there would be no way for Ganon to take over the world (yet) and the story would come to its relative end with a short trip to the castle to take out the foolish wizard. There is some debate as to whether or not the seven maidens would still be held in captivity but Zelda would be safe.
However, at the end of Zelda, Link has disposed of evil that long inhabited Hyrule and made the world a peaceful and safe place. It could be argued that, at the end of the game, Link has secured thousands of years of safety for the world's residents in a way that could not be accomplished without the presence of the renewed Ganon. With this in mind, you could say that it was a good thing that Zelda was captured from the Sanctuary after Link obtained the Master Sword

There are several events that would have directly been influenced by the prevention of Zelda's capture in the Sanctuary:
* Presumably, the priest would still be alive unless he still died in the combat required to fight off the invading guards.
* Those poor bosses in the Dark World temples would still be waiting for eternity in rooms barely large enough to hold them (what did they do while waiting anyway? Furthermore, why did they keep the only weapon capable of defeating them in their home?)
* Ganon would never have resurfaced.
* Agniham would possibly escape and cause more problems for Link and Zelda.
* The World would never be safe until Link and Zelda were both dead.
So, as you can see, it might be a good thing that Link never made it back to the Sanctuary in time to rescue Zelda. Of course, it is unfortunate that the priest is killed (especially to such sad music admit it, you shed a manly tear) but such events can be classified to fate. Without the capture of Zelda, Link may never have found Agniham and Ganon may have resurfaced in some other way. Not to mention, Link and Zelda would be continually targeted and pursued for the remainder of their lives. So, next time you sit down to play The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, take your time heading back to the Sanctuary after obtaining the Master Sword. You may have another 8 hours of game play ahead of you by doing so, but only in this way can you save the world.
