What In The World Are Cracked Heels

Are You Worried About Your Cracked Heels?

Do you have cracked heels that never seem to go away? Is it painful when you put on your shoe or walk? Are the cracks getting bigger and more severe? If so, I feel your pain. I worried about my cracked heels, until I researched treatments for cracked heels and found, through personal experience, the things that REALLY helped my cracked heels. I'll let you in on the secret tips I found to be helpful for cracked heels.

Don't let them get worse!

Whatever you do, don't just "wait it out." This won't help your cracked heels, and will probably make them worse. If cracked heels continue to get drier and more painful, the cracks can get so deep they bleed. This can lead to infection in your cracked heels, and you don't want that!

Why do my feet crack?

What is it that causes cracked heels in the first place, many people ask? Cracked heels begin with extremely dry skin on your feet. The drier the skin on your feet, the more prone they are to cracking. When the skin gets red and dry, and is combined with pressure from standing on your feet (especially if overweight), small cracks will start to form on your heel. Soon, a hard callus forms on the outside of your heel with cracks in it. Think about a tomato on a table that you are pressing down on with your hand. When it gets under so much pressure it cracks, right? That's what happens on your feet. Cracked heels are a result of dry skin that has nowhere to expand with the pressure because the heel isn't supple. But there are ways to treat cracked heels and get rid of them forever!

Moisturizing and a few other tricks for cracked heels...

Don't you love it when you read an article about solutions to a problem, such as cracked heels, and none of them work? Well, I've personally experiemented with treatments for cracked heels and I know what worked for me. Here are some of the treatments that will take care of most cracked heel problems.

- Use a pumice stone in the shower or bath EVERY TIME on your cracked heels. Did you know the "fissures" can't heel unless the hard callus is removed? Basically, the cracks can't heel if there are still deep cracks there!

- Moisturize cracked heels twice a day with a good cream or lotion.

- Wear socks to bed at night to keep your feet moist.

- Don't wear an open-back shoe, such as a sandal. This lets your feet dry out.

- Try not to stand on your feet more than necessary until your cracked heels heal.

If these treatments don't help your cracked heels, go to a dr for more aggressive treatment. Either way, your cracked heels should be a thing of the past soon!
