What Is A Bad Sector
A Bad Sector is a sector which can no longer be used due to some sort of permanent damage
. This means that the more number of bad sectors the less space or memory your system has to save data. Whenever one faces any kind of a problem with the system, a data recovery service should be contacted immediately lest the problem increases.
For example, when a computer starts running slow, the first the we tend to do is format the partition. This only leads to further complications. The situation goes further out-of-control when the drive still doesn't perform well. It is then that we realize that we should get an expert to help us rather than try and do it all ourself!!
An instance of this is when we get error messages like: "CRC" or "Cyclic Redundancy Error"
This not only means that the system is running out of memory/space, but also that whatever data is already on the system, is in danger. The reason for it is simple, the bad sectors on the hard drive might have had some data stored on them. This data is surely inaccessible now, and along with it all the other data stored on the hard drive becomes endangered. When you try and access files on the bad sectors, the system could crash. This leads to a complete loss of data.
The solution to this problem is very simple. You need to perform regular check-ups to see if the hard drive has bad sectors or not. These check can be performed with the help of softwares like CHKDSK and SCANDISK. They scan the hard drive and list the bad sectors. They then inform the file system not to store any data to those sectors in future.
Since the above is a preventive, it is of no use if your system has already crashed. In that case, you should contact a data recovery service rather than lose hope!! They have experts who can help recover data from damaged hard drives.
