Devices such as digital cameras and mp3 players that were made before 2010 all supported xD picture cards. xD card stands for Extreme Digital card and it is a flash memory card. Most of the new devices that are available in the market do not support xD card but rather support even more compact memory card called microSD card.

The xD cards are available in various sizes such as 16MB, 32MB, 64MB, 128MB, 256MB and 512MB. xD picture cards were made available by FujiFim and Olympus. Hence, you can find that almost all the digital cameras from FujiFilm and Olympus supported xD cards.

The type M xD picture card is powered with multi-level cell architecture which gives you a storage capacity of 8GB. The type H xD card comes with a maximum storage capacity of 2GB and has a slower read-write capability as compared type M. The type H is no longer manufacture by Fuji and Olympus. When the xD card was released, it had to compete with rival memory card formats like SD card, CF card and Memory Sic from Sony.The thing that I struggle with is what to do with all the cards that I receive.
