. Really, that's all it really is. Lets get to the definition. Affiliate Marketing is basically becoming a partner with a company that sells a particular product.

When you become affiliated with that company, you will be given a link that you can promote and every time someone buys that product from your link, you will earn a predetermined commission. These commissions may be any where from 1% to as much as 100% depending on the company and product.

Now that's sounds exciting. And below I will share what are the positives of these programs but also what are the negatives.

Positives Of Affiliate Marketing


1. Most programs are free to join. One of the great advantages of affiliate marketing is that it normally does not require any initial investment to get involved. As a matter of fact, you can go to an online company, fill out an affiliate form application, send it in and you will have an affiliate link that you can begin promoting right away.

2. You don't have to purchase the product to promote it. Now this is true for most programs. Although there are some that require you to buy it in order to better distribute it. I mean, why would you recommend something to someone that you yourself are not willing to buy. But either way, you can promote it and the main reason most companies don't care if you own it or not is because you will still be bringing in business for them as long as some clicks your link and buys.

3. You don't have to worry about creating your own product. This is by far what is the most attracting aspect of affiliate marketing. Some people develop their own products and sell it. But the cool thing about being affiliated with one is that it doesn't matter if its yours. As long as you feel it has some value, you can simply use someone else's product.

Negatives Of Affiliate Marketing

1. Most free companies will only give you the affiliate link. See, one of the problems when you get involved with free programs is that you will not get any type of support except some banners and links. So you are left alone to figure out how you can go about promoting it. And since most people don't have a good sense of marketing, they end up making little money to no money at all.


2. There are too much garbage to be affiliated with. Let me explain. Its not that there aren't good products out there to promote. Its that some products provide no real value to people and it is unethical to promote a product that does not provide any benefits to its buyers.

3. Commissions take a while to be paid out. This is by far one of the greatest downfalls about affiliate marketing. Imagine, someone buys a product from your affiliate link and you anxiously wait for that commission to come in. Well, many programs will ONLY send you out a check like a 3 weeks to a month later. And lets be honest. Who would want to wait that long for a check?

To conclude, it has its good things and its bad things. Overall, if your work hard enough, you can earn a significant amount of money if you pick up the necessary skills to get it done.
