What Is An Iso 9000 Quality Courier?

Most companies shouldn't have to worry about exact handling and documentation procedures that their trucking services uses as long as it results in their goods being safely delivered to their destination

, right? Well, not exactly. The truth is that if you're most companies, as long as the courier does a good job of delivering your cargo, you might not care about this. If you're a company that either has or is trying to get ISO 9000 certification though, the issue becomes a little less clear.

That is because ISO 9000 certification is a certification of the total quality of a product that is delivered to the consumer. That means that in order to get this certification, every single aspect of your company must adhere to all of their guidelines which govern quality. This is certainly going to affect many of your internal practices, as production, packing, and storage are all part of the guidelines. However, transportation is also a key element in the ISO 9000 certification. So, if you're using a third party company to transport your goods for you and you hope to be an ISO 9000 certified company, then you are going to need to make sure that they know about and are following all of the applicable ISO 9000 guidelines.

Every aspect of the courier's part in your products transportation is going to be covered by the ISO guidelines as tightly as the other elements in your production process are. There are guidelines which cover how certain types of cargo must be loaded and unloaded, how it must be packaged, store, and how it must be handled. An important part of the certification is also all the documentation which shows proper handling procedures, so a courier must also be familiar with this type of paperwork.

So how do you know if you've found a courier that can meet all of the ISO 9000 requirements? Many courier companies that are attempting to land themselves larger and growing clients will advertise themselves as being ISO 9000 trained or compliant, but it can be tough to tell how valid this is. The best thing that you can do is demand some references from the courier company. If they can provide you with references of other ISO 9000 companies that they are currently doing business with, it's a very strong sign that they're providing a great service which adheres to all those guidelines.
