What Is Required To Setup And Operate Pan Tilt Zoom Cctv Cameras
PTZ CCTV cameras are more difficult to install than standard CCTV cameras
. This is particularly true if you are new to CCTV. To function a PTZ CCTV camera will need a power supply and a cable to transmit the power to the camera. It will need a cable to transmit the video signal back to the recording device or monitor. They also require a cable to transmit the RS485 data signal from the CCTV DVR or PTZ Controller to the camera to enable it to be controlled. They will require either a CCTV DVR or PTZ Controller to control them.
All PTZ CCTV Cameras will need power to operate. You can either connect a CCTV power supply directly to each of the PTZ cameras you have installed or you can power all your cameras remotely from where your PTZ Control equipment is located. Please check with your supplier that you are using the correct power supply otherwise you may void your warranty.
To control the PTZ Camera you will need to connect it to a DVR or Keypad Controller using a cable which will carry a RS485 data signal. This will tell the PTZ Camera to pan, tilt and zoom in on subjects. It is important to understand the RS485 cable has two cores RS485 + (A) and RS485 (B). If don't connect them properly you will be unable to control the dome.
We recommend setting up your dome on a work top or kitchen table just to familiarize yourself with the setup. This will save you time if you get it wrong.
The BNC video connection which transmits the video signal back from the camera to the DVR or monitor is just a straight forward connection just like a standard CCTV Camera.
