What Is The Best Defense For Dog Attacks?

There are over 5 million Americans every year that report being bitten by dogs

. And that's just the reported number! There are probably millions more that go unreported. Of those close to 1 million are hospitalized.

The problem of dog bites and attacking dogs is a growing problem all over the country. Just recently here are my hometown a Colorado Springs there is been a flurry of dog attacks resulting in very serious injuries for little children.

My "rolling thunder walking club" is a group of fellow seniors that walks every morning rain or shine. We are the semi-original slow walkers club. My feeling is that it's better to walk slow than not at all. We have fun and get a little exercise in the process. Occasionally we come across an aggressive dog. This encounter is repeated literally millions of times every day across the country.

For self defense against dog attacks I used to carry the telescopic stun baton as my self defense product of choice. And indeed on two occasions it saved my bacon. But recently, I am using the Mace pepper gun. It fits neatly in a holster on my belt and is easy to get at and use.
