Also many people look at eBay search results in the "ending soonest" view so your listing will have a higher ranking as it approaches its end and so will attract more traffic.

Most bids are received at the end of the auction so when your auction ends is more important than when it starts. Auction end times can have a significant impact on the number of bids and therefore the final selling price. The end time will be the same as the start time. So if you want your auction to end at 9.00 pm, you must list it at 9.00 pm.

The best time for your auction to end is when most of your target market are likely to be at their computer, searching on eBay. The majority of people are at work during the day Monday to Friday and so browse eBay at home in the evenings and at week ends. So evenings and week ends are often (but not always) the best time to end your auction.

By ending your auction on a Sunday evening, the majority of people will have had all week end to find your listing and are likely to be available to bid at the end of your auction. Whereas ending your auction at 8.30 a.m. on a week day morning is often bad because most people are commuting - stuck in traffic or on a bus or train and so can't bid.

But if you are selling to businesses, bidding will probably be done on a work computer during office hours. So you probably want your auction to close during office hours. By ending your auction on a Friday during office hours, your potential customers will have had all week to find your auction.

Or if your market is "stay at home moms", or retired people, week day mornings may be the best time to end your auctions.

To discover when is the BEST time for your specific auction to end, you need to do some RESEARCH. Look at the Completed listings search results in the eBay category that you are going to list your item for sale in. The results page will display the date and time that each completed auction ended. You will need a diary to convert the date to a day of the week. It also displays the final selling price and number of bids for each completed auction. What day and time did the auctions with the most bids and the highest selling prices end? If a pattern emerges, you will then know when your auction should end.
