What Is The Purpose Of Baptism?

No one can escape from the cycle of life because most of us will be getting into

each stage in the right time and since we are growing matured now, there are already a lot of questions we can think of deeply, such as why we are here right now and why is there a need for baptism. Have you ever had a chance to ponder upon the second question or it is your first time to encounter because you are on the page right now? There are things that would go beyond what we can think of as humans and there are forever queries left not clarified. This article will try to reveal some important points about the act of being baptized and why it is considered important. To bring you closer to what is the truth, comprehend well.

One person that is always significant in revealing the real meaning of baptism is no other than, John the Baptist. As taken from Matthew 3:11, John the Baptist had said, "I baptize you with the water for repentance." This line creates impact to our lives, to different religious groups and the like. The line will mean nothing if you won't think about it but if you can draw some insights; this line can be used as a basis of the act. If we travel deeply, we can surely think of that the act means being free from sins or in other words, an act of repentance.

There can be vast insights we can conclude from the line and if it tells us about deepening our faith to God, then its purpose is sincere and that what matter most. John's baptism can be now connected as a mark for repentance, drawing the humanity to embrace God. If we will consider the origin of the word repentance, conclusions can be added more. The term "repent" is originally extracted from "metanoia" which signifies a change in the form or way of thinking. So, is John the Baptist denoting an act of change when he said, "I baptize you with the water for repentance?"

Therefore, baptism based to John the Baptist's is an act of renewal for the better, putting old ways behind and taking a new beginning. This will remain as a guide to how we live our life with purpose and with faith. With that act, we are able to achieve a better life again to become a better person and a fruitful individual towards God.

If baptism is a means to ask forgiveness and a means of returning to God, then how about those who are not baptized yet, are they not saved? There are still a lot questions about the issue of being baptized and some of the answers are still being processed.
