What Is The Repeal Pledge?

Ever since Congress and the current administration drafted and passed the new health care program

, people have been demanding answers and asking for it to be repealed. Even though there are some problems with health care on the whole, most people believe that nationalized health care is not the answer.

Because of these feelings, the health care activist community has drafted the Repeal Pledge that demands lawmakers take responsibility for their actions. The pledge is based upon three main principles for accountability:

*Incumbents must be willing to promise they will take action to repeal the health care act;

*Newcomers challenging incumbents must promise that if they are elected, they will take action to make a repeal reality, and must state how they would act differently from the incumbent;

*The people of America must take action to let lawmakers know they are serious.

As more and more people take action and agree to sign the Repeal Pledge, two results will occur:

*Candidates will understand that they will not be elected or re-elected unless they agree to sign the Repeal Pledge;

*The more the people let lawmakers know the changes they expect to be fulfilled, the more lawmakers will know they are being held accountable for their actions.

By signing the Repeal Pledge, you are taking action to make your voice heard in Washington. This is the time to let officials know that citizens are serious about the future of the country as well as the quality of health care we receive.

Once our voices are heard, new, more effective laws can be passed that will: allow patients and doctors to have control over their care, rather than government; give people the freedom of choice; keep patients protected; make medical care more affordable; promote a health care system that will give the public access to prompt care; and allow for investment in research and development for new medical treatment programs.
