What Is Your Success?

It was a bitterly cold Tuesday afternoon when a couple of friends and I decided to go to our local Chinese for a buffet lunch.

Apart from catching up on general bits and pieces, the topic of conversation came up on success.

"I can"t wait to be successful," one of my friends said.

I was surprised by this statement because to me she was already successful.

"You are successful," I responded "You have a wonderful marriage a nice home, beautiful children, what else do you want or need."

It came to light that success to her was being a multimillionaire with a big mansion and several cars.

I bring this question to your attention what is your success? What does it mean to you?

So often we tend to "miss the boat" on this. Success is not just having the mansion, cars, money, maids and butlers, but it is about making progress on each day.

For example on the 10 December 2012 I decided that on the 11th I will complete my website no more delays, lo and behold I did I was so pleased with my achievement that day.

When my authors provide me with feedback on how helpful I was with my comments when I critique their work, knowing that I have helped them to improve their manuscript is successful to me.

The fact that you"ve finished chapter one and have moved onto the next chapter is an accomplishment to be pleased with. Or you might have completely finished the manuscript that too is a success.

Your business might be small but focus on the progress you have made, from coming up with the name, gaining some clients, registering the business, these are great achievements.

We must be thankful and celebrate the "small" successes that we have.

Think about the homeless person who would love to have your house, just by even you having a house they believe you"re successful, yet you don"t think having a three bedroom house is a success you want the seven. Don"t get me wrong there is nothing bad in wanting more but once you are grateful with what you have God will take you to the next level.

Celebrate where you are at now; celebrate your "small" achievements because success is what you make it.
