What It Means To Wear A Watch

I like wearing a watch

I like wearing a watch. The rare times I have gone out of my house not wearing a watch I feel almost as if I am missing an important article of clothing or something; as if I forgot to put on a belt or something similar to that. When I go out with friends on a Friday or Saturday night, I will always make sure to wear a watch.

Wearing a watch provides a very practical way for me to tell time. Sure I have a phone and an MP3 player that can both tell time but it is not the same as bringing up my wrist, pulling back my sleeve, and then looking at my watch. The glitter of the polished metal band and brass finish always catches the eyes of nearby people, especially if I am riding on a train or bus to wherever I am going. I always love that look of admiration I see when people look at my watch. I think it is because most use their phones to tell time that they have lost touch with what it was like to wear a watch.

That is another aspect about wearing a watch that I like; actually wearing one on your wrist is a eye-catching fashion statement. Being fashionable means standing out among a crowd that might look and dress the same and wearing a nice watch just might put you above everyone else who is not wearing one. As mentioned previously, many people have chosen to use their electronic devices to tell time so that point is there in wearing a watch? My argument is that there is a point. It hearkens back to a different time before we were "married" to our digital devices and had to stay connected to the digital world of the Internet Age. Wearing a watch has that mystique of class which is something any and everyone should try to take on themselves as often as they can.

Watches will never go out of style as far as I am concerned. In fact, I think watch-wearing trend seems to be growing steadily. More and more I hear talk from my friends about some cool watches they want to buy or the latest trends in watches themselves. Right now, watches with a large face are in style but the small square faces are seeing a resurgence when it comes to dressing up. In any case, consider wearing a watch when you can.
