At most plumbing companies the phone is answered by a secretary or the wife of the
plumber usually if its a one man show, because the plumber is either in a trench or under a house and the phone ringing is a burden to him doing his job. Jetset Plumbing has a plumber that will always answer the phone that has had plenty of experience out in the field. Whether its a blocked drain, hot water heater water leak or just for a bit of friendly plumbing advise our secretary is an ex plumber. This helps because he can tell you exactly when a plumber can be at your property, how long that job usually takes and what you may be able to do in the meantime to prevent plumbing problem getting worse. With no disrespect to the secretaries and plumbers wife (we have had both and they do a fantastic job), but it just not the same as talking to a plumber who has been there done it on so many occasions.
The feedback to date on having a plumber as our secretary answering the phones has been amazing and made the move all the more worthwhile. Not only do you (the customer) have a plumber to discuss your plumbing problem you also have the luxury of knowing he has probable done a job the same or similar in his time in the field. When he passes the job on to plumber that is going to your property nothing gets lost in translation.
The reason Jetset Plumbing has taken this step is through frustration at being on the other side (the customer) and talking to people that have no idea of the importance of our enquiry and wouldnt like our customers to feel that way.
