Soon after, honey was added as a glaze or coating to the candies which became the standard practice in the production of this Christmas holiday special treat.

It is not exactly clear when did these special candies became associated with special holidays like Christmas or Thanksgiving. In all likelihood, this tradition also started in New Orleans where these specialty candies were popularized by the early French settlers. During the holidays, you see a lot of these treats being sold in specially crafted boxes whose attractiveness adds to their already mouth watering appearance.

There are many varieties of these specialty candies that are available in the market today. Praline candies have further been developed to include other ingredients and are not anymore confined to just almond nuts. An example of these other varieties uses walnuts as one of the main ingredients. There is even one variety which uses a mixture of different nuts glazed with the same mouthwatering taste of honey.

Pralines candy is so delectable that it is no longer surprising why its popularity is really riding high among Americans. In fact, a lot of people keep on inquiring about its availability long after the holidays are over. This is why a lot of stores right now sell these specialty candies all year round. The only difference that you will notice with these all-season varieties is the motif of their packaging.
