What Makes a Good Pub or Bar

A good pub or bar is the heart of a community. While fewer people attend churches in the traditional manner, pubs are about the only place communities have left to congregate and socialise. But many of the traditional pub is in decline as more people stay at home due to higher prices, smoking bans and dissatisfaction with their local establishment.

A good pub, however, will always be busy as people that enjoy a night out in a warm and friendly atmosphere will inevitably want to return, just as a bad night out will deter people from ever visiting again.

But what is it that makes a good pub? Is it the dcor? Staff? Drinks that they serve, or the fact or the clientle they attract? Well the truth probably lies in a combination of all these factors but there are things that all good pubs have in common.

All pubs, bars and taverns have to be welcoming and one way of instantly putting people off is a dirty and untidy premises. Spillages, full ashtrays, dirty plates and litter on the table will almost certainly deter people from wanting to revisit you establishment.

To ensure cleanliness the right bar equipment is essential. Janitorial accessories such as cloths, buckets and other cleaning materials should be good supply, while behind the bar there should beer mats, drinks trays, beer mats and other bar accessories that help prevent mess and spillages.

Good service is another prerequisite to a good pub or bar. Having to wait in a queue for ten minutes before you get served will put turn a good night out into a poor one. Having well-trained staff is half the battle, as is ensuring the bar is laid out effectively with enough tills and serving areas. Bar equipment here, too, can make all the difference. Staff waiting to use measures, corkscrews, bottle openers and other bar equipment can hold up service and frustrate customers.

As for the rest? A good atmosphere can only be generated by the people in the pub but if you provide good service and clean and friendly establishment then people will come and the pub will inherit a reputation for being a good, friendly night out.
