Then there are people who go online mainly for entertainment purposes. Can you think of anything fun to do online? Games come to mind immediately. Traditionally, we only need computer games to play with. These games require CD-ROMs. On the Internet, there are always free Flash based games that can keep you entertained. Today, you need social networking games that allow multi-player gaming. Besides games, far too many people also go online to browse entertainment news - sports, celebrity gossip and all sorts of juicy stuff. Some people even go online to gamble as a form of entertainment. For sure, there is no lack of entertainment online.

Finally, there are those who go online just to communicate with others. These are people who go online to check emails or post messages on Facebook and Twitter. Instant chat sessions are readily available through various tools - Gtalk, ICQ, MSN Messenger and Yahoo Messenger. Now you can chat with your Facebook friends without having to leave the web site. With the rise of social networking sites, the Internet is fast becoming the preferred communication medium for far too many people.

So how is the above information useful to your web business? Well, perhaps you can start thinking about your customers. What type of profile do your customers fit? What activities are they likely to do online? From time to time, customer behavior can be predicted based on their age group. For instance, if you are targeting young adults, perhaps they are spending a large amount of their time on gaming sites. Maybe you can visit a little of these sites and buy ads. Or perhaps you can develop related products and market them to this market segment. After all, research has shown that they are willing to spend on entertainment.

Such data is always useful to a web business owner. It is up to you to interpret the data and come up with wise business decisions.
