Kickers were more than 80% successful when they weren't delayed by opponents calling a timeout, but only 66% successful when there was a timeout when they were "iced". A Pew Research Center survey found Internet users age 50 and over are the fastest growing group on social-networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. Between April 2009 and May 2010 the percentage of users 50 and over who used social-networking sites rose from 22% to 42%. Social networkers 65 and older increased 100%, while those 50-64 increased 88%. In comparison, users 18-29 increased only 13%. Of course, among that age group social networking has already become a "social disease".

Then there's texting and that's not just for teens anymore. According to another Pew survey, 72% of adult cell phone users text that's up from 65% in 2009. Although 87% of teenagers text, sending an average of 50 messages a day, adults average 10 messages. Ninety-one percent of cell phone users say their phone makes them feel safer, 88% say their phone helps them to make plans with family and friends, but 86% say it's rude to repeatedly check messages during meetings or conversations. Most surprising is that 65% of adults sleep with their cell phones on or next to their beds risking "bed-lam".
