What Should I Be Looking For In A Hot Tub?
When you start the search for the perfect hot tub
, you will realize that this search starts with the inevitable question - What do you want in a hot tub? Hot tubs come in several shapes and sizes. There are small ones that are ideal for a couple and there are larger ones that will accomodate more people. Dont forget the most important reason you are choosing a hot tub - relaxation and comfort.
Before we venture any deeper into the different advantages, types and other details lets get one thing clear. As far as your search goes the phrase 'hot tub' can be interchanged with the word spa. Also, jacuzzis and whirlpools are pretty much the same thing. They are referring to an in-the-ground or above-the-ground, heated, jetted water-filled tub.
This brings us to our first important consideration. Do you want one that is inside the ground or above the ground. The price difference between the two types is huge. The in-the-ground ones are much more expensive due to the different construction requirements. On the bright side, they do add value to your house when its time to sell.
The one great perk of having a portable above-the-ground hot tub is that it can move with you. These are usually self-contained spas that need an electrical outlet and they're ready to go. This makes portable spas a very attractive option as far as flexibility and ease of use is concerned.
There are other features to consider. Items such as contoured seats, built-in entertainment features are just a few luxury choices. Dont forget the significance of choosing the right water heater itself. The power of the heater will help determine how quickly the water can be heated.
For the ground or permanent spas the heater can be electric or gas. Most of the time the heaters use LP gas. Though electrical heaters are cheaper to buy in the beginning, over the long run, gas heaters are cheaper to maintain day-to-day. The costs though will depend on a few other factors such as the cost of electricity or gas in your area, how often you use the spa and what temperature you set it to.
In most cases it is best to buy your hot tub from a reputable company that specializes in the distribution or manufacturing of these products. They should not be just one of the many items offered by a company. Unless the economy is hurting be wary of extremely cheap deals. Do your due diligence because you often get what you pay for especially when it comes to these products.
