What Should You Be Looking For In A Mobile Phone?

With it fast approaching Christmas, people are starting to ask their their partners

, friends and relatives for ideas of what they can buy them for Christmas.

Some people provide reams upon reams of A4 paper, full of ideas for gifts and presents. Others jot down a few ideas on the back of an envelope and others simply wait to see what they get, happy regardless of whether they get a pair of Christmas socks or a brand new stereo system.

For some people, however, it's great to get them surprise presents.

Everyone likes and enjoys a surprise to some degree and there aren't many better feelings than opening a present on Christmas Day, not knowing what you're going to get, only to find that it's something you've been wanting for months.

And one gift of this type is very often a brand new mobile phone.

A suitable gift that's enjoyed by everyone, from teenagers getting their first phone to grandparents keeping up with their grandchildren, the problem with buying a mobile phone is that everyone wants something different.

However, if you're looking to buy a mobile as a present and want something that's modern but which will suit anyone, take a look through these points that you should be keeping an eye out for.

1. Internet access - whether it's 3G broadband or wi-fi, it's strongly recommended that any new phone you buy has at least some type of internet accessibility feature as standard.

The person who you're buying the phone for doesn't have to use the 3G broadband or wi-fi, something which could be true if they aren't looking to spend a lot of money on a monthly basis, but it's advised to be sure that the phone has the capability so that the person can choose.

2. A camera - something which comes as standard in most modern mobile phones, the point to note here is not to look for a phone that has a camera, but for a phone that has a good camera.

Everyone's definition of what a good camera is will no doubt be different, but a good rule to go by is for it to be able to take photographs in at least three or four million megapixels and unless you don't think the camera is going to be used a great deal or other features make up for the lack of it, a flash should be included, too.

3. Removable memory - with cameras having internet access to be able to download and play games and cameras to allow the person to take photo after photo, it's strongly recommended that any phone you buy has the ability to remove the memory and upgrade it to a higher capacity.

This isn't a necessity, as most mobile phones can be hooked up to a computer so that all of the files on it can be downloaded to the computer and the phone can be emptied, but it's a hassle and an inconvenience, something that the person who was receiving the phone as a gift wouldn't have to worry about if they could upgrade the phone's existing memory.
