As children grow up, it is the responsibility of parents to teach them all what they should know

. Children are capable of learning things faster than adults. Therefore, teaching them important and useful things at an early age will help them perform excellently in school. Teaching them different things like music, sports, dance, languages, etc., will help us find their interests and it will be of great help to know the field in which we should help them develop. They will find new hobbies and hidden talents when they get to learn different things. Children are like unpolished diamonds; when we let them improve their talents, they will shine brightly in a short time.

You can see that the world around you is becoming more digitized every day. This calls for the necessity to know about computers. Teaching your children about computers is essential. Though they will be taught in schools, it will be more helpful for them if they know about computers at an early age. What should you teach them about computers?

1. Turning on and off:

The basic thing to teach them about computers is turning the computer on and off. It might seem very simple to you but it has to be taught to children. Show them the power buttons on the CPU and monitor and teach them the basics of turning it on and off. Teach them that they can shut down the computer only after closing the other programs that were being used.

2. Uses of Programs:

The next thing to teach them is the different uses of the programs. Tell them about word processors, paint applications, and other simple programs. It is also important to teach them about the uses of the programs so that they get a better understanding of the purposes of the computer. Also teach them how to open a program, how to save, and how to close a program.

3. Typing:

After they learn about the programs, you can let them learn typing. Typing skill helps them use the computer in a better way and moreover, they can have fun playing typing games. Typing lessons for kids are designed in such a way that they will become interested in typing. Get interesting and cool typing software for your kids and help them enjoy learning.

4. Games:

By this time, your kids would have become acquainted with the computer. It is now the right time to introduce to them the world of games. Start with simple games and puzzles that suit their age. Encourage them to get high scores and also have great fun. Care should be taken when they are playing online games and your presence is highly essential as they may be lured into dangerous sites. It is also important to see that they dont get addicted to playing computer games.

5. Internet:

It is necessary to teach the kids about the Internet. Cyber crimes are happening throughout the world and new and different tactics are used to lure kids into inappropriate sites. Teach them how to surf safely. Turn on the parental controls and watch what your kids are doing online in order to prevent them from harm.

6. Internet Connection:

The next thing they need to learn is about the internet connection. Asking them simple questions like What is broadband?, What is a wireless connection, etc., will make them think and become curious to know the answers. They will listen attentively if you teach them the answers and become more interested in knowing about computers.

After teaching them every concept, let them practice what they learned. Give them freedom to play games for a considerable amount of time and explore the internet by themselves but keep monitoring what they are doing online in order to protect them from crimes.
