Mathematics is a rather difficult discipline. It presupposes a number of specific skills that will allow you to manage all the aspects of this science. Moreover, one should have a special mental structure to be capable to study mathematics.

What are the tactics that will help you to manage this science?

1.Comprehensive reading. One can think that reading skills are not valuable for studying mathematics. However, reading mathematics is not the same as reading a poem, for example. You should read slowly and attentively, as every single word and mathematic symbol are important for understanding the meaning.

2.If you are not attentive, than read with a pencil in your hand and outline everything you consider as essential.

3.Do not skip the material. Mathematics is not the discipline which points can be understood without the previous ones. Everything is interrelated and interdependent. If you do not understand something, try to formulate the explanation, express it in other words or consult the glossary. Every phrase should have a logical explanation. In other words, you must understand the concepts.

4.Practice makes perfect. Theoretical knowledge is important, however, the practical experience is even more important. You will remember the material better. Moreover, it will give you the confidence of your knowledge.

5.Do your home assignments. Homework in mathematics is not something that should be taken lightly. Your home task is a logical continuation of your lectures and classes. It helps you to develop skills and to manage the material.

6.Studying mathematics presupposes developing of a problem-solution reasoning. Before you close the book, revise the material, analyze the assignment and make a conclusion of what you have done and what the purpose was.

7.Remember, do not hurry learning the material, and do not hesitate to ask for the explanations. One missed concept may lead to a failure. Tutors are available, so, ask for their help.
