What The Oil Spill Can Teach Us About Wood Pellet Stoves

If you turn on the news, the first thing that you will see is a new story on how

the oil spill of the gulf coast is still not fixed, and more oil continues to pollute the sea. One of the key reasons the disaster occurred is because deep sea drilling is basically very risky, however we allow it because of our continuous demand for more and more oil. If any positives can be taken from the disaster its clear we need green solutions such as wood pellet stoves.

The oilrig that collapsed and started the leak has a line drilled down past 5000m. Traditionally oil drilling has been carried out around 350m, and the risks are much less, however some companies are drilling twice as deep as the BP oilrig that failed.

In one sense, we support companies to take such risks, as we still consume and waste a huge volume of energy. Only once we start to reduce our consumption of oil will it have an impact on the risks that organizations take on how they source and collect oil.

Its obvious we need to reduce the amount of oil we consume, with cleaner, green and renewable energy alternatives. Heating is an area where a lot of energy is consumed. Here wood pellet stoves can be used to provide a cheaper and greener option.

Wood pellet stoves are an evolution of the basic wood heating systems people depended on before installing gas and oil heaters. Wood pellet stoves are more efficient and automated meaning they can fit in better within the modern lifestyle.

Features which all wood pellet stoves have is an integrated hopper which holds the fuel, and feeds it into the fire when necessary to regulate temperature. This means there is very little work required to own and run a wood pellet stove.
