After that use any general cleaning chemical suited for carpets that you have at home to further clean any remains of the stain and to remove the alcohol smell, if any. For oily, greasy stains, again, when they are fresh, just sprinkle salt over and wait till it absorbs the grease. Then wipe the salt away. However, if you are fighting a battle with old stains, it doesnt necessarily have to be a loosing one. In this case youll need deep domestic cleaning. To deep-clean a carpet yourself, however, can be a little too time consuming. So, if you dont have a spare day, best call professional cleaners. And if you do have the time to deep clean, youll need to have a water cleaning machine and/or a steamer. First, wash over the carpet with carpet shampoo and water, than wait for a while, according to how dirty the carpet is. Then, after cleaning the carpet shampoo, go over the areas with a steamer, until the carpet feels almost dry to the touch. Finally, leave it to dry completely for about 24 hours, trying not to step on it.
