. You might be one of them considering to go abroad for dental treatment. Here is what to expect from your dental holiday.

Medical Preparations:

Its good to visit your local dentist, so you can discuss your needs and get your panoramic x-ray. This part may not be as easy as it should be for some. Some dentists might be reluctant to share your medical results. Dont give up, be assertive its your documents at the end most likely you paid for it as well. Patients have the right to get the copy of their treatment and scanning results Having a copy of medical results are always useful not only for preparing yourself for dental treatment abroad but also to keep your medical history in your personal files for future reference.

After your local dentist visit, you would have better ideas of what you need, what alternative solutions out there etc. But be aware not every dentist would offer the same options or treatment plans, it might slight vary. Best thing dont dismiss different treatment plans at first but review and discuss the pros&cons of alternative options.

After your visit to your local dentist, now you are at the stage you know what treatment you can receive for instance, you have missing teeth and your local dentist after consultation said you are a good candidate for implant treatment. (Not everyone is a good canditate for implant treatment I will explain this in another article.) Then you can comfortably contact your dentist abroad, send your x-ray for their review and arrange your visit. When you are in touch with your dentist abroad share your medical background and inform the dentist abroad as much as possible with your health state, habits, medication etc. Most likely you would be asked to fill medical history form at this stage.

Travel Arrangements:

You would expect your clinic/ facilitator to arrange accommodation for you during your dental holiday. Its better to review their offers first before trying to arrange yourself. This way you would most likely get better deals and suitable options.

Transfers are in most cases organized free for you, which makes your dental holiday stress free and easy one. All these extra services actually started to encourage travellers to take treatment when they think of visiting the related countries.

Companion:

For any treatment its reassuring to have someone next to you hold your hand or assist you if you have pain or not feeling well. Therefore if you have a friend or family member who can join you at your dental holiday that would be wise to ask. But if you cant have a company dont worry, there also many solo health travelers. Plus health tourism professionals and patients coordinators are there to make it easier and smoother for you during your dental holiday, they would do all assistance most likely not the holding hand part though!
