What We Need to Know About Prostate Cancer Stages

The treatment and the medication applied to a Prostate Cancer patient are highly dependent on the prostate cancer's stage. At some point, the extent, dosage, and nature of its medication are highly correlated to the level of the cancer cells.

A Prostate Cancer Stagesrefers to the extent to which the cancers are being spread throughout other parts of the body. It is a fact that cancer cells have roots, and these roots spread towards other cells to provide further damage. The stages is pre-determined according to the estimate of the cell damage, and the extent of pain the patient experiences.

In determining the Prostate Cancer Stages, experts use the so-called TNM system which stands for Tumor/Nodes/Metastases. The system is defined through the tumor size, the number of affected nodes, and the presence of other metastases components.

The first two stages, T1 and T2 stage of the prostate cancer, it identifies the cancer as fully developed within the prostate, but the two stages have diagnosed the patient to have displayed certain symptoms of the disease. For stage I or T1, the cancer cells are unnoticeable, unless by high-powered ultrasound device and might look as normal cells though inside, it is already impacted by the tumor.

Stage 2 or T2 of the prostate cancer means that the cancer cells has been existing within the prostate and that the prostate gland is already impacted of it. The cancer cells are spreading but it is within the prostate gland itself.T3 and T4 stages are quite crucial, since the cancer cells are way out of control and spreads outside the prostate gland.

It might impact the nearby glands including the reproductive organs, or it may impact the bone cells first. The T3 stage of prostate cancer is characterized by complications after the cancer cells have reached the areas outside the prostate gland. The patient at this stage is experiencing pain from other parts of the body.

T3 stage is not that rampant though since it is not far from prostate cells yet. T4 or the terminal stage of prostate cancer is also referred to the advance stage since the cancer cells have impacted delicate parts of the body and it in verge of death. If a cancer is said to be in the advance state, or the terminal stage, it is most likely to exhibit physical constraints to the patient.
