, the need for having some time for yourself is almost a perquisite to keep sane. There are times when you just want to be by yourself and not think of the work load, assignments, tasks and anything that has to do with office or work. Here are some things that you can do to de-stress:

- Create your own de stressing room. For some people who have the extra room, they can create their own "hobby" room or perhaps an audio-visual room. Some even change their garage to create perhaps a mediation room or space. One of the first things you need to do in converting your garage is to clear out all the clutter there. And there may be a lot of clutter. You need to either throw out all unnecessary stuff or start labeling them. The next thing you need to do is to make more or less a sketch on how you want the new garage lay out to be. After which, you need to insulate your garage door. Having an insulated garage door enables the place to be warm in the evenings and therefore liveable. Then you can start rearranging the garage to make it your stress free sanctuary.

- Plan on vacations and getaways. Going off for the weekend is something that should be done constantly. If you have a family, plan some weekends as a family outing and some weekends as second honeymoons between you and your spouse. Granted, it is expenditure but having great peace of mind is worth the expense. If you don't have the budget to go out of town for a weekend, then make it a day trip. You can even go with your family to places that they haven't been to and can be done in one day. Having them help plan the trip by getting their input also helps. It helps you see that life isn't all about work and work isn't the most important thing.

- Take up a sport or a hobby. If you used to be active in a sport or hobby, then take it up again. Having these activities isn't just stress-releasing, it is healthy as well. If you are an avid tennis player, get your family involved in the sport. It is a good thing to play some games together. Getting outdoors and doing stuff as family bonds the members together and the best thing you can leave your kids are happy memories.
