What You May Not Know About Hearing Loss
There are many things you may not know about hearing loss one of them is that you could be suffering from it yourself
. It is important to get tested to see if you are suffering and if there is something that can be done to help you. There are corrective devices you could wear to make your life a little easier even if you may not even realize you need one.
You may be suffering from a loss of hearing and not even realize it. It is the third leading chronic health condition affected Americans in today's society and you may be one of the many Americans suffering from loss. You may think that you couldn't possibly be suffering because you are in your prime age and believe that it is only a problem for your grandparents' generation. You would not be alone in thinking that only older people suffer from hearing loss, but that doesn't make it a correct fact. Many people believe that only older people have some level of loss (or people who are born with the condition or develop it early in life). The truth is that 65 percent of the millions of Americans suffering are actually younger than 65 years old. There are nearly 32 million Americans who are dealing with this type of problem today and 65 percent of them are younger than 65 years old!
There are ways to find out if you are among the 32 million Americans who are suffering even if you have not yet realized you might be one of them. The best way to find out for sure is to have a hearing exam. It might sound like a scary process but it is actually a simple, easy test that doesn't take very long and can answer your questions and concerns about your loss and the best way to correct the problem or avoid future damage. Taking regular tests is a proactive way to avoid future damage and catch the problem before it becomes something too large to correct or before it causes too much damage. There are physical, emotional and even social risks to suffering from loss that can possibly be avoided by simply getting a regular hearing exam.
All you have to do is call and make an appointment at a center near you that conducts free or relatively cheap exams for patients. You will go through an easy process of answering a few questions about why you're there, what problems you've noticed, how long it has lasted, what your concerns are and a few other informative questions. You will be working with a hearing expert that will be able to diagnose if you are suffering from hearing loss and what needs to be done to correct it, prevent additional loss or adjust your level of hearing with a correctional device and which one is the best fit for you. Taking a quick test is easy and painless and could help you discover what you don't know about your own hearing loss.
