What You Need To Know About Dog Treats

You may have seen some instances where dogs would usually prance around upon seeing its master take out a treat from the pouch

. As you well know, these dog treats are specially formulated biscuits that really appeal to the taste buds of your pet. They come in a variety of colors, shapes, sizes, and flavor, and seem to be relished by dogs with a great deal of satisfaction. Sometimes, it just drives you to wonder what is in those treats that really make dogs really want it. So what are they really made of?

For starters, different types of dog treats have their own distinct compositions. There are some dog treats that are wholly made of bran while there are others that are made of wheat, beetroot, vegetables, meat, and beef blood. These are all evenly mixed, molded into bone or square shaped biscuits, and then subjected to a baking procedure until it is completely dry. This process effectively seals all the nutrients and minerals that a dog needs.

Many of the dog treats available in the market today can function as a dietary supplement for dogs. They are usually made hard because it is claimed that these hard and dry biscuit texture can help clean the dogs teeth, and at the same time, strengthen them. There are, however, some types of dog treats that are made to be chewable. They do not crack or break when your pet sinks their teeth in them. Instead, these types of dog treats will become soft and chewy when it gets wet through the dogs saliva.

Dog treats also come in different sizes. There are those that are between two inches to three inches in length, while the smaller ones range half-an-inch to an inch long. The width also varies and is usually proportionate with the length. Normally, the large sized dog treat is given only to dogs with a huge body mass such as German Shepherds, St. Bernards, Doberman Pinschers, Great Dane, and other dog types with such size. However, they are also sometimes given to smaller types like Pugs.

While the general shape of dog treats comes in the form of a bone, there are also other manufacturers that make the circular or rectangular kind. These are usually smaller and are oftentimes used in modern day dog training sessions.

If you want your dogs to associate dog treats with good behavior, you should always carry them in your pockets all the time. This would allow you to reward your pet with a delicious treat if it is able to follow your command.
