What You Need To Know Of Deer Fences

Most people especially in the rural areas around the northeast portion of the U.S

. know about deer extremely well, since they are the one of the leading causes of car accidents in some rural areas. The hunting season for deer lasts just under 2 months with the option of archery shooting or gun shooting. So as you can see people who do know about deer are not very enthralled with them. It is estimated that each year 130 people die from a deer related car accident.

So as you most people dont care for them, and therefore they want to make sure they stay away. One way to do this is to put up a deer fence. A deer fence stands anywhere from 6 feet to 15 feet high depending on the need of the fence. Most deer fences are used for keeping deer out and with a 6-15 feet high fence they should stay out. Typically a 7 foot fence works bests because that is taller than them, the average deer can jump 15 feet but they dont usually do this because of their eyesight being the way it is. Their eyes have a color spectrum that makes it so when they look at the top of the fence they cant tell where the fence ends and the tree line starts.

Deer are tricky though because if they really want what is behind that fence they will look for an opening made by another animal or try to nose their way under the fence, if you have the right fence though this isnt an issue at all. Most areas where fences are needed is around the garden, deer love gardens.

So to make it easier to set up your deer fence here are some pointers that you will want to know, make sure that you have the right measurements before you start to either get a kit with all of your equipment (hammer, heavy duty scissors, and a hoe or shovel) inside or by going to a store and buying the things you will need. So after you have your measurements and equipment you will want to start with the stakes first. After you have the posts up the next step is to attach the fencing to the posts depending on the posts you are using you may need to use some heavy duty wire ties or otherwise just use the fencing staples. The most important thing is that once you have it up make sure that the fencing is tight so it doesnt fall down making it easy for an animal go into the area.
