. Every where you look there are shops offering the same if not better products or services as you. If you don't compete fiercely, you'll be swallowed whole in the market. So, the only way to get on top of the game is to advertise heavily. By advertising we mean not only using television, radio, or billboards. Using print media such as brochures, posters, and flyers are good ways to get noticed out there.
There is, however, one marketing avenue you should not forget to use in your business. The thank you cards. These simple cards have long been used in the business industry as part of a marketing campaign. A simple thank you in business can go a long way. It not only makes the recipient feel valued, but keeps loyal and trusted customers as well.
In today's modern and fast-faced world though,
thank you cards are rapidly becoming a lost art. Technology has made transactions fast and virtual. In just a few clicks, you instantly get what you need. But just the same, a simple thank you is imperative in today's business world. But you don't have to be in business to experience the power if gratitude.
Why use thank you cards?
When was the last time a friend thanked you for your help? Isn't the feeling grand when someone appreciates your simple gesture? This is the same in sales. If you are a business owner, the simple act of sending your appreciation speaks volume about you. After all, everyone wants to be appreciated, so saying thanks will be a nice touch to your PR effort.
There are several instances you can send a thank you card. This includes:
- A packaged delivered on time
- A new customer buying your new products
- A returning customer
- A referral
- Any other occasion that elicits appreciation
Although you can always buy a printed thank you card at office supply stores, this is often not the best way to show your appreciation. These cards lack the impact that you want to your customers. So consider handwriting your own card. This process may take time, but it tells your customers that you take time to express your gratitude to them.
Each card should only have a few sentences. Do not use long sentences and fancy words. Just say your appreciation as simple as you can. As much as possible make a unique card for each of your customers. But if you copy a note for your next contact, just make sure to read your note to remove any stray words inappropriate to your contact. But remember not to overdo your cards. You can work with a template or make new templates every time you make a card, whatever works for you.
You can include your business card with your thank you card when sending them to customers. This will help the recipient remember you in case they get confused about your identity. It's okay to make a follow up call just to be sure the customer received the card.
Thank you card printing may not be a new concept, but its impact makes all the difference. Your customers may not always remember you name, but if you make it part of you business to send thank you cards they will always remember you as the "card guy."
