Guest chairs are either going to be upholstered or be on the stiffer side. A sturdy metal chair generally suggests a tone of seriousness, as is mentioned above. These chairs will remind people that they are in a place where they should be quiet and respectful. Wooden chairs are often charming, and they might be best used in a place such as a craft store.
