For a newbie network marketer a domain name might not seem that important, when in fact it is the exact opposite. Having the right domain name could mean getting that extra bit of business OR NOT. Many people do not put a lot of effort and time into a new domain name and that is a big no no right there, yes over time you will be able to definitely think of one a lot quicker but it still will take some time.
3 Reasons you need to have a good Domain Name:
It gives you professionalism.
Personal email addresses
Re-directs
No when I say professionalism I don't really mean making you a professional right away but make you appear like one. Having your own domain name specifically associated to you will really increase your followers. Not to mention that now days its good practice and definitely expected to have one!
A personal email is far better than having a generic Hotmail, Gmail or Yahoo account. Can you imagine if I sent you an email from an address that looks like this madnetworkboy@gmail.com or rogerdoger@yahoo.com, you would definitely think that I was a cowboy and not a professional business owner or mentor?
Now, if I sent you one that looks like this, John@ace-designs.com or John@ace-security.com, you would think totally different, it just looks so much more professional don't you think?
In network marketing we often use affiliate links to sell other peoples products and most times using the affiliate link can seriously affect your conversion rates. So with re-directing we are going to direct traffic from your domain (A) to Site (B).
But Wait before you register your domain name you need to know this!!!
You want a domain name that is easy to spell, easy to say and easy to remember! Fail to have these important factors and you need to keep looking! After you have found a domain name that suits the requirements you then want to register plural and hyphenated versions, do this to protect yourself from competition who will intentionally register similar domain names to steal away the competition.
Now a seriously important factor to take into account is using keywords in your domain name, this will seriously increase your traffic so much quicker than using a generic domain name. Search engines will give higher relevance to sites with top key words in the domain itself. Another important aspect is to get a .com url as this gets priority over other url's like .biz, .net, .org etc. If I had to choose in order it would be .com, .org and then .net
Don't forget about registering hyphenated and plural versions of your domain name in case people misspell it and to make sure your competition doesn't steal any traffic away from you using your name but with a hyphen or plural.
And last but not least don't use numbers in your domain name unless you can get the numerical and alphabetical versions.
So there you have a little taster about domain names... so don't rush into it head first, but rather take your time and make sure you choose the right one... easy to say, easy to spell and easy to remember with all the added features of course just so it's not that easy!
