What's the deal with Purity Rings?

Purity Rings are on their way to dominating the world

. They're showing up everywhere around the country and they'll soon be heading to your living room. It's the latest fad among tweens and the Jonas Brothers are doing everything they can to keep the fad growing. If you're not aware, purity rings are rings that one wears if they have decided to wait till marriage to "do it". Sometimes people call these True Love Waits Rings.

A few years back, the Jonas Brothers announced that they decided to wear purity rings showing their commitment to purity. A lot of people weren't exactly sure why, but it's mainly due to religious reasons. Back in the early 90s, church youth groups started giving out purity rings to their students. They preached about the dangers of sexual intercourse before marriage and that one should wait until they get married to have sex. The purity ring is supposed to be worn at all times and shows the wearer's commitment to God and their decision to remain pure. What it really comes down to is sexual abstinence.

As soon as the Jonas Brothers started wearing them in public the trend blew up. Millions of people followed along and purchased their own ring. They come in all shapes and sizes and can be found all over the internet. Websites were quickly selling out and had a very hard time keeping up with demand. As if it couldn't get worse, other celebrities such as Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez started wearing purity rings. This caused greater demand and some websites had to close down because they couldn't afford the increased traffic.

Recently, a lot of people have been concerned about wether or not the purity ring is just a social statement, or if it's a new way of life. We really have no idea, and it's certainly not our business, if the Jonas Brothers will remain pure until they get married. What we do know is that they will continue to wear their purity rings and their fans will continue to love them.
