Bifold doors are most commonly seen in walk in closets, as kitchen pass through as well as in laundry rooms. Bifold doors can also be seen as a divider between two rooms and as airplane hangar doors. Many people also prefer to use bifold doors as their barn doors.

Typically, bifold doors are two wood panels that are connected by hinges in the middle. A bifold door is usually suspended by rollers or casters. A bifold door system is such that a person can use a knob to close the two panels together. While a sliding door only give access to a part of the space behind the door, a bifold door gives complete access to the entire place behind it, thus making it a preferable choice over common sliding door system.

One of the most prominent benefit of bifold door is it can be installed in series so that you can divide your rooms in two. Plus, the design is such that it can be folded on them.

Many people prefer pocket doors over normal bifold doors. Plus, pocket door system is not feasible for smaller space whereas bifold door can be fit perfectly in a smaller space as well. Moreover, bifold doors are quite easy to install. If you have kids at home who are interested in carpentry, you may involve them as well in the project to make things more interesting.

However, bifold doors have some disadvantages too. Operating the door wrongly puts pressure on the tracks and casters as a result of which the track may bend or the caster may come out of the door.
