If you were to use an LED spot light instead of a traditional halogen or incandescent device the LED would send the light in one direction outside. There would be no reflection and no corresponding loss of light. This light consists of parallel beams of photons that can be handled by a diffuser lens more efficiently than it would handle a criss cross web of photons. The result is brighter crisper light at a fraction of the cost.

The secret of the exceedingly high efficiency of LED bulbs lies in the fact that they work on the principle of exciting electrons. Unlike bulbs, a lions' share of the electricity they consume is converted to light and is not wasted as heat.
