It is also indicated for chronic suppressive therapy of recurrent herpes outbreaks. In a treatment course of 7-10 days with Valtrex, most people notice an improvement in their condition within 24 hours, while for some symptoms go away in as little as 5 days. Valtrex can be taken with or without meals. Valtrex 500mg twice daily for 10 days is the recommended dose for the treatment of initial outbreak of herpes.
