As a new person to internet marketing, you may have heard many answers to the question "What is Article Marketing" and how it is a great way to get started in promoting your marketing efforts online. However, it is also important to consider what article marketing is not. So, without further delay, I will ist the top 3 things that new marketers MUST avoid.

1.) DON'T bother writing an article if you haven't done your keyword research, and done it well. The main reason is that your article will not be successful, you'll get discouraged, and let's face it, thats just no fun at all. There is nothing more discouraging than taking the time to do an article that is well written but doesn't get any views because the keyword research and placement was wrong.

2.) DON'T get sucked into software programs and robots that supposedly will "do the work for you" while you "sit back" and watch the profits roll in. Sorry folks, doesn't work that way. As the old saying goes, garbage in, garbage out. In other words, if you attempt to rehash somebody else's content, use article spinners to the extreme or use bad third party content creators, you will have less success than you think. First of all, most of these programs do a bad job. If you are writing for English-speakers, you really need to watch third party writers very closely.

If you read the article and can tell it's a "Frankenstein" creation of a spinner or reworked content from somebody else, other people can to. At that point, you will have lost your credibility with the reader, and a chance to make the sale. Assume your audience is smarter than you, and that is a good guidepost toward effective writing.

3.) DON"T go for "mass article submitters" that will automatically submit your article to hundreds of article directories, supposedly generating lots of views and backlinks. Sorry, that doesn't work either. Here's why, you can submit your article to a thousand article directories, but if none of them have any readers at all, than what have you really done? Also, the software programs that do this type of work normally are very buggy and do not actually submit to nearly as many directories that they claim, purely because the directories are always changing their login procedures.
