What is Gnostic Christianity?

Gnostic Christianity, or simply Gnosis, studies the core of Jesus Christ's teachings. Because these were given by him in form of stories (parables) or metaphors, they can't be interpreted literarily as modern Christianity does. These stories and metaphors hold a deep spiritual meaning -- they're analogies of the path to salvation, known as enlightenment or nirvana within other traditions.

While modern Christianity claims we're all already saved and no longer sinners, for the fact that Jesus washed our sins with his blood when he died in the cross, Gnostic Christianity knows that is evidently not the case -- because people still sin. Some modern Christian groups claim we're all born sinners and there is nothing we could do to change it, but if that would be the case, there would be no point on studying Christianity, because this states sinners will not be saved.

It's well known, if not obvious, that people can change their negative thinking or habits positively. Gnostic Christianity teaches how to attain inner change through wisdom; however, in a more extensive way. The end result is the dissolution of all, false, beliefs and concepts (ego) and thus direct experience and knowledge of all reality -- this is what Jesus refers to when he says we should be like children to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Besides the Holy Bible, various other Holy texts are studied within Gnostic Christianity, such as the Gnostic Gospels, Pistis Sophia, and even some of Eastern precedence. The authenticity of these, though, has been put in doubt by some mainstream religions, but reading a small portion of those apocryphal Holy texts is more than enough for a Gnostic Christian to realize the divine message there enclosed, which widely known religions are missing.
