While going in for a tooth bridge; teeth on both sides are prepared so that they can support the bridge. After this impression is taken to ensure the bridge fits in the mouth and a temporary bridge is made and inserted into the mouth. The temporary bridge remains in the mouth while the final bridge is custom made in a dental lab.

The final bridge may take some time to be made till then the temporary bridge in the mouth will keep the teeth intact and ensure non movement of the teeth neighboring the missing tooth.Dentist should be immediately contacted if the temporary bridge becomes loose or falls out. When the final bridge is ready in the lab dentist will call you up remove the temporary bridge and cement the final bridge at the right place.

Once the bridge is in place one has to take care of it and protect it from damage or trauma. Insertion of the bridge is going to ensure that all teeth remain at their original position.
