What is a Snap on Smile?
Cosmetics dentistry, specialising in improving the overall aesthetics of our teeth
, has come out with a less costly way to have a beautiful smile: the Snap-on Smile.
Snap-on smile is a dental appliance that can be snapped on the teeth so one can show a perfect set of teeth and give a beautiful smile. It is made of a thin resin material but it is durable. There are 23 color shades and 18 designs of Snap-on Smile to choose from. Snap-on Smile can be worn throughout the day, even when eating and drinking and needs to be removed only at night. With proper use and care Snap-on Smile would last for one to three years.
Snap-on Smile is heat resistant so eating hot food with Snap-on Smile on is allowed but it cannot tolerate boiling or near boiling temperatures so it is not wise to clean it with boiled water. To clean Snap-on Smile, use a soft toothbrush and brush the inside and outside surfaces.
Other cosmetic dentistry procedures to improve our teeth are whitening, bridges, and veneers among others. These procedures, however, are expensive and may require invasive surgery. Snap-on Smile is intended for those who want a beautiful set of teeth but are financially incapable to have other cosmetic dentistry services and to those who are phobic to invasive procedures. Snap-on Smile, however, cannot treat tooth problems like decay. It is actually not advisable for persons with tooth decay to wear Snap-on Smile. The problem should be corrected first. Also, it cannot be used by people who are lacking in teeth since Snap-on Smile snugs the teeth to remain in place.
Snap-on Smile may also be used as a temporary means to have a perfect set of teeth. Wearing it would give one an idea how the looks can be improved if a perfect set of teeth is maintained and hence be encouraged to have other treatments to correct the existing teeth problems like misalignment and discoloration.
Snap-on Smile may not be used while under another cosmetic dentistry procedure, like having Invisalign or braces. There are medical cases where Snap-on Smile is not recommended like when the client has severly misaligned teeth or has gum or jawbone problems. Discuss if one is a viable candidate for a Snap-on Smile with a trusted dentist first before requesting for a Snap-on Smile to be done.
