What is a Traffic Exchange Site?

The no of online shoppers is growing every single day, so is the number of affiliate marketers. Proper knowledge is the key to succeeding in affiliate marketing. Driving more and more quality traffic to websites or blogs is the aim of all affiliate marketers. There are many different methods used to drive traffic that includes both paid and free methods. One of the easiest methods of driving traffic to a website or a blog is to use a traffic exchange site.

Traffic exchange sites have become a very successful and more importantly easy way to drive traffic. In short a it allows webmasters and bloggers to exchange traffic. Webmasters are allowed to submit URL's of their website or blog, then that particular site will be shown certain number of times depending on the number of credits available to that particular website owner.

For example if you submit your site (yourdomain.com) and you have 100 credits available, your site will be shown 100 times or a little more or less depending on the traffic exchange site. It will be shown in page with 2 frames, in one frame will be your site and in the other frame there will be some navigation buttons to allow the visitor to view the next website or blog. In some sites 1 credit = 1 hit but it can be different depending on the network.

There are 2 ways to get credits, either pay for them or surf for credits which is totally free, and there is no limit to the number of credits that can be earned by surfing. Just surfing to get credits is the method used by most traffic exchange users, since just viewing one site can bring 1-5 credits, again it depends on the site that is being used, since all traffic exchanges do not have the same rates. To earn credits the surfer has to at least view a particular webpage shown by the exchange 10-20 seconds, then after the required time is up the surfer can click on the next button to move on to the next site. If it is not viewed for the required amount of time given by the site no credits will be earned and constantly skipping sites too fast is a reason for accounts to get banned.

Almost all traffic exchange programs are free, although many of them offer special features to paid members and offer credits for purchase. Referring others (using your own referrel URL) to the traffic exchange is also a way to earn credits, again the number of credits you earn depends on the site you are using.
