What is a tipper?
Tipper - self-discharging freight car, trailer or semitrailer with a body (usually the bunker type), mechanical (usually hydraulic) tilt for unloading cargo, or with forced discharge (e.g. screw). There are also trucks, which are used for discharging the slope of the entire vehicle with telescopic lifts. According to the freedictionary ta tipper truck is "a truck whose contents can be emptied without handling; the front end of the platform can be pneumatically raised so that the load is discharged by gravity". Tippers are used to transport bulk or other goods that are suitable for such a discharge, which is made by their tilting of the body. Tippers are classified:
1. By type of discharge (slope or involuntary)
2. In the direction of discharge (on the side, back)
3. By body type (bin, platform, gather the bunker, come the platform)
Although the load capacity of tippers is less than a similar truck with a fixed loading platform, however tippers benefit from the reduction in time to unload. They are distinguished by the method of unloading - the rear, lateral, bilateral and versatile unloading on all sides. The most famous manufacturers of tippers are DAF, Renault, Iveco, MAN, Mercedes, Volvo, Unimog.
Road tippers are widespread. They are intended for public roads, produced by virtually all manufacturers of trucks. These machines are used in construction, repairs, utilities, agriculture, as well as mining. They usually have from 2 to 4 axes, and load capacity between 40 tonnes. However, there is more impressive machinery, for example, European companies GINAF Terberg and produce 5-axle dump trucks, as American manufacturers (Freightliner, Kenworth, Western Star ...) bring their number up to 7. The construction of these "centipedes" allows you to pick up (preloading) to four axes and move to maintain contact with the surface.
There are also tippers for underground mining. Designed for transporting and unloading blasted or mechanically loosened rocks in cramped conditions underground mines, with mining and tunnel construction. Design allows them to open-cast mining, but not as efficiently.
Tippers for underground mining are manufactured by Atlas Copco, Caterpillar, DUX Machinery, Paus, Sandvik, BelAZ, MoAZ
These days in the heavy tipper market MAN and Mercedes-Benz have deeply rooted, building their own five-axle construction specials. And finally, the Iveco came with an extra fifth axle.
