What is wisdom? How do you know you acquired wisdom? Part II

In the most general denotation of the term wisdom can be vaguely identified as the reasonable way of knowledge of people or things and how to behavereasonably accordingly. In other words reason is identified here with wisdom. But every individual p has his own idea of reason and hencereact differentlyand behave accordingly. Who is to be judge to what reason is? Who is to set the criterion of reason and hence act accordingly? Unknown answers to these questions.

Nevertheless, nothing in these short sighted definitions acknowledge the fact that we are here in order to inquire into the reason of our being and that of the universe we happen to be in. We are here to face the universe. The proof lies in the fact that we are all forced, inescapablyare obligedto think. We think about everything the universe offers us. It is the material of our thought. We are merely observers and not actors. Our role is limited only to observe, understand and conclude, but no role do we have in the presence nor the strutcure nor control nor manipulation of things. All is pre-programmed according to a master plan.

In this, we are made to confront the universe and to make our own discoveries about its presence, nature, structure, form, shape, constituents, origin and finality. We, the human species, are included within, and are the first target and subject of our own inquiry.

Explanations impose themselves upon us, our thinking, our being. If there is No demand for explanation, we are as good as dead. Everyone is naturally curious and wants to know. This is the foundation of knowledge. Knowledge cannot be achieved nor acquired except by curiosity and discovering.

But all knowledge and all discoveries lead to one thing namely the origin of our own being and that of the universe. This is identified in philosophy as external finality, for Spinoza it is the internal finality for God is within everything according to him.

This external finality, is identified by Aristotle as thefirst principle and the prime mover. In religious belief, it is God.

God is the final objective of all knowledge, forfrom Him imanates knowledge and unto Him it leads. The objective of ourexistence is to acquire knowledge, and knowledge is of Him. And since knowledge is the cornerstone of wisdom, for if there is no knowledge there cannot be wisdom. Therefore, and according to this perspective ,God is the ultimate objective of wisdom. A wise person is then one who looks into the universe and discovers God, whether by reason or faith.

For we are all equipped with the mind, as the tool of knowledgeand we have a lifespan and have to confront with the universe and then have to make our own convictions in this respect.

Those who look into the universe and do not rdiscover God are, therefore, unwise and are in a state of folly.
