The key here is to keep the top portion of the fence unattached. This way, the weight of the animal's body pulls the fence down on top of them, thus preventing entry into the garden.

Cats too often can decide to use a garden for their own personal litter box. And dogs. Well, dogs like to dig. Keeping neighborhood pets away is always smart. Of course sturdy deer fencing will keep the cloven-hoofed deer and other such animals away as well. A tall deer fence, with the top angled outward, will keep deer and goats from jumping over and wreaking havoc. And, while not as common a problem, deer fencing will also prevent pigs from entering and tearing up the vegetable beds.

The bottom line is that properly and carefully installed deer fencing will keep almost every animal away and protect your garden from any damage.
