What to carry for your Galapagos diving cruise
The Galapagos is an island chain in the Pacific Ocean
. It is a diving hotspot because of the sheer variety of marine life that teems in these waters. The waters here pulse with life due to the rich colonies of plankton that live here. Divers are likely to come across Hammerheads, White tips, Galapagos sharks, rays, sea lions, turtles, seals, tunas and the like. This explains why divers repeat the Galapagos diving cruise as often as they can.
If this is your first time on the Galapagos diving cruise, here are a few things to keep in mind.
The currents in the Galapagos Islands create a unique environmental set up. Therefore, the waters are generally cooler and visibility tends to be on the poor side most of the times. So, if you want to enjoy the Galapagos diving cruise during the cooler months, remember that it is indeed a challenge. In any case, it is better to bring your own equipment whenever possible instead of relying on rented (unfamiliar) equipment.
When you travel, it is important to carry sensitive equipment and travel papers in your carry bag. Some items of clothing are important too including hiking shoes, light jacket, hat and trousers. Do not forget to carry batteries, chargers, mask, underwater housing in short, whatever technology you intend to use, bring it with you!
Other must-haves on a Galapagos driving cruise include:

* Drysuit and bathing suit
* Undergarments for wetsuits
* Fins and booties
* Gloves
* Hood
* Dive light
It is true that most reputed Galapagos Liveaboards offer snorkeling equipment on rent. However, if you have your own equipment, it is always recommended to go with equipment that you are familiar with.
Sun protection is important as you will need to protect your arms, face, legs and other exposed parts from the direct rays of the sun. You will need:
* Wide brimmed hat
* A cotton scarf
* Sunglasses
* Sun cream (with adequate protection)
* Lip salve
* Long sleeve cotton shirts and light cotton pants
For those who suffer from motion sickness (and it requires a tough stomach to be immune to motion sickness in these choppy waters), medicines for the same are a must.
* Candied ginger
* Tablets for motion sickness
* Salted crackers
* Plastic bags
* Sea bands
Other important things to carry include a First-aid kit comprising of band-aids, anti-biotic creams, medicines for stomach upset or diarrhea, mild pain killers and Aloe Vera cream or gel for sunburn.
Other gear that you may want to carry when you are traveling includes water bottle, binoculars, flashlight and extra batteries, shampoo and necessary toiletries. You could also carry raingear if you are doing the Galapagos diving cruise in the wet season.
